What Are Integrative Degrees?
Israel’s Integrative degrees (often referred to as Hybrid Academic Degrees) are Israel’s higher-education tracks designed to gradually merge students into Hebrew-taught university programs.
Year 1: English Courses + Learning Hebrew
Core academic coursework is offered entirely in English alongside intensive, daily Hebrew Ulpan (language immersion) and foundational subjects.
Year 2 onward: Hebrew Immersion
Students study in Hebrew, attending lectures, reading literature, and taking examinations in Hebrew alongside native Israeli peers.
Who Are These Programs Best For?
Students with Prior Hebrew Background: Applicants entering with an existing solid foundation in Hebrew who can realistically reach Hebrew academic standards within 9–12 months.
Culturally Motivated Learners: Individuals driven to integrate fully into local Israeli social circles, professional networks, and campus culture.
Long-Term Residents & Aliyah-minded Students: Strongly committed to establishing a long-term personal and professional life in Israel.

Campus Israel does not recommend integrative degrees for international students who have low-level Hebrew proficiency and do not possess clear long-term aspirations to integrate into Israeli society.
Academic Research Insight: Studies in second-language acquisition demonstrate that developing Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency, the advanced fluency required to comprehend complex academic lectures, analyze scholarly literature, and complete university examinations, typically takes a minimum of 4 to 7 years of sustained immersion. Expecting a complete beginner to master academic Hebrew within a single 9–12 month Ulpan year presents a severe academic risk.
Recommended Alternative: For traditional international students seeking a degree experience without long-term migration goals, fully English-taught degree programs remain the strongly recommended path.
